A postdoctoral fellow position in Neuroscience is immediately available in the SPATIAL COGNITION team at the Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience (https://lnc.univ-amu.fr/en/neural-bases-of-spatial-cognition) to work on the ANR-funded CONNECSPACE project aimed to unravel the nature of the spatial representation when animals navigate in complex environments made of connected rooms. The Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience is housed within Aix-Marseille University located on Saint-Charles Campus in Marseille, France, and is part of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). The fellow will perform multi-site recordings in the thalamo-retrosplenial-entorhinal-hippocampal network, in animals exploring complex environments. The candidate will use a wireless system to simultaneously record head direction cells, grid cells and place cells in freely moving rats. Neural recordings will be combined with optogenetic or pharmacogenetic (DREADDS) perturbations to investigate the interactions between the different cell populations.
